On Sunday January 20th members of the Halifax basketball program were involved in Special Olympics Day hosted by the Halifax Rainmen. The Rainmen worked with Special Olympics and the Knights of Columbus to help raise money for the 2nd KOC Provincial Basketball Tournament being held at Shearwater in May.
Special Olympics were given tickets and raised money with the 50/50 being donated to aid in funding the tournament. The athletes were involved in the games festivities by running the flags at the beginning of the game and delivering the opening tip-off. The athletes also played games of “bump basketball” which was a huge hit with all in attendance.
SONS and the KOC would like to thank the Halifax Rainmen for the support and the opportunity to be involved in such a great day.
