Assuming the role of President & CEO in May of 2005, Mike began his involvement with Special Olympics in 1990 while working at Bonny Lea Farm in Chester. His volunteer role as Coach with the Lunenburg Queens Region and coordinator for Special Olympic events at Bonny Lea eventually led to his joining the provincial office as a full time staff member in 1999. Mike brings to Special Olympics a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Bachelor of Science with a background specific to Special Olympic athletes and sports in general. He has attended seven National Games and several World Games where his roles ranged Chef de Mission to Head Coach.
While in his role as Head Coach for Team Canada at the World Games in New Haven Connecticut he successfully coached his team to a silver medal victory. Mike can be reached to discuss matters such as:

Anne Marie joined the SONS staff in January of 2003 bringing with her years of experience in the marketing profession along with previous management experience. She has hosted several large fundraising events throughout Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick and has several national fundraising awards to her credit. In her role with SONS she assists in all fundraising initiatives, media relations, regional communication, and administrative roles.
As Communications Coordinator she is responsible for communication initiatives such as our provincial website, newsletter, the coordination the provincial yearbook, any Public Relations endeavours and acts as the Privacy Officer. In her years of volunteering in her community she has lent her expertise to Girl Guides of Canada, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, The IWK, the Kidney Foundation, and now Special Olympics. Special Olympics Nova Scotia is pleased to welcome Tom Fahie, Youth Development Coordinator to their team. Tom is a long-time educator having taught at all grade levels in the discipline of Physical Education for thirty-years with the Halifax Regional School Board. For the past five years, he served as Executive Director of the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation, the governing body for school sport in the province. In the role of Youth Development Coordinator, Tom will seek to partner with School Boards, Health Agencies, community groups and volunteers to develop the Active Start and FUNdamental programs being offered by Special Olympics Nova Scotia.
